A Shattered Clasp
*~~~~~*
Rifle was proving to be nothing shy of a headache for Mikel in more ways than one. He had arrived four hours ago at the home Erick had previously occupied in this small rural community. Needless to say his greeting by the frumpy human woman residing there now had not been a pleasant one. He could understand her inane fear of his presence though.
His heritage still lingered in his very aura and although humans couldn`t exactly place what it was about this huge male that made them so uncomfortable they reacted with due hostility. Like dogs that sniffed your hand then raised their hackles. It was instinct.
Letting his dark head rest on the well padded cushion of the Rover`s seat he contemplates where his damned cousin could be. Snow lifted and whipped about outside, the ever present wind lifting the light flakes with ease. If only he could think so effortlessly. Municipal Waste now spins in his drive as he shoves his thoughts around.
Erick had gone into hiding that much was plain. But there were scant few places one could go to avoid the dragon mistresses knowledge. Tugging the thin strip from his hair he begins to run his calloused fingers over it deep in contemplation. If Erick had slipped into middle realm, then his search would be over for he had been banished from the realm of the Fey for eternity.
Mikel then raises his head. Perhaps HE couldn`t enter the world of the Fey but his other could. Dante was his last hope to find Erick, for he had plans for his wastrel cousin. After he drove him into next week that was. A small smirk lifts the corner of his mouth as he projects outwards with his mind.
Another hour passes as Mikel waits. He had followed Dante in the Rover deep into the now white fields of this town, exiting his vehicle when the raven had landed atop a pine that bowed with snow. Here, in this strip of forest, lay an entrance to the Fey world.
Mikel could feel the magic surrounding the entry way, could almost smell her flowery perfume. It had taken all he possessed not to step across the wooded boundary to seek her out, but her father`s spell of death wasn`t something he wished to test. Not this day at the least. So he waits as his familiar swoops down into the forbidden lands.
When his small amount of patience is near its end his sharp gaze finds his raven leaving the wooded tree line. Mikel steps from his ride to lock his attention to the nearby thicket to see his cousin pushing through a bush. Erick lifts his mischievous aquamarine eyes to Mikel`s simmering silver ones.
“Mikel! Man you must have really missed me huh?” Erick asks pushing through the deep snow. Mikel replies by punching his younger cousin in the face as hard as he can.
